GHOST HUNTING class starts Wednesday, October 7th

GHOST HUNTING: How to Investigate the Paranormal: 4 (3 hour) classes

Wednesdays, October 7, 14, 21 & 28, from 6:30-9:30 PM Pacific time

ATTEND BY PHONE OR IN PERSON. Classes are held at HCH Institute, 3702 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette, CA (or on your telephone).

All attendees receive a DVD-rom disc with a ton of info, including mp3 audio (a previous offering of the course, plus extra audio), video (including an unaired TV pilot), and a large amount of required reading and supporting documents (include a number of ebooks).

The class will be recorded, and you will receive the mp3 afterwards as well!

Most people are interested in the paranormal phenomena we classify as “ghostly”: Apparitions, Hauntings and Poltergeists. Many are interested in understanding their own experiences and the experiences of others. Many are intensely interested in gaining the skills and knowledge necessary to be an effective investigator of such things: a Ghost Hunter. This class is a guide to ghost hunting, and attendees will gain the basic skills and understanding for investigation of ghosts, poltergeists, haunted places and related psychic experiences. The class will include the models of what these things are (from the field of parapsychology), how the scientific and psychic approaches can mesh together, and how to assess a situation, investigate it, and resolve the case to the satisfaction of the people having the experiences (and hopefully to the satisfaction of the ghosts, when they’re involved).

Based on the field of Parapsychology’s 130+ year experience with such investigations, the class will cover: Apparitions, Hauntings and Poltergeists: differences and similarities; What else can make a “ghost”; The investigative process, from initial call to resolution; Technology & Psychics in ghost hunting; How the techniques of the professionals differ from those of the amateurs; The ethics of paranormal investigating and legal issues that can be involved.

The deep (and necessary) connections between apparitions, hauntings and poltergeists and other psychic experiences and abilities, and why a ghost hunter or paranormal investigator needs an understanding of the findings of Parapsychology in order to both conduct a thorough investigation and come to at least a range of reasonable conclusions – and to understand the “why” of the phenomena.

Naturally, the class will include some of Auerbach’s more exciting cases.

Students completing this course are eligible to affiliate with Loyd Auerbach’s Office of Paranormal Investigations and be deployed for appropriate investigations that become available in their own locale.

Cost is $250 for the course and DVD-Rom with audio, video and text.

Upcoming Parapsychology Classes

Hi folks and Happy New Year!

This month, I’m doing two one-shot classes through HCH (in person or by phone), which are described below: “Hauntings: In Depth” and “Is Your Child Psychic? Children and Psychic Abilities.”

In addition, I have the Precognition & PK class starting on Thursday night. If you have already taken it, I’d appreciate it if you would pass along the notification to anyone you think might be interested.

Also below you’ll find info on the upcoming online classes for the Rhine Education Center.

Finally, I am working through my calendar to schedule a distance-only Advanced Ghost Hunting course. Watch for info coming soon — and if you’re interested in a Bay Area local version, let me know.

ESPecially,

Loyd Auerbach, MS

HCH Institute Classes in Lafayette – Also available to attend by phone. Attendees (in class or on phone) receive mp3 recordings of the class, as well as lots of text and other materials (via download or on DVD-rom). ONE SHOT (One evening) classes:

HAUNTINGS: IN-DEPTH: Wednesday, January 14, 6:30 – 9:30 PM $50

The term “haunting” refers to places that have repeated paranormal/ghostly activity. Buildings or the land they are built on can be haunted, and the building can be old or even relatively new. It’s also possible for objects to be haunted (after all, what is a house but a big object?). Researchers have long determined that hauntings (often referred to as “residual hauntings” by many) have a different cause than apparition/ghost cases: place memory/psychic imprints vs. actual conscious entities

This one-evening session will look at the long history of haunted places and objects and why psychical researchers and parapsychologists have separated them into their own category different from apparitions. Learn about the models of hauntings, from psychic imprinting to the British “stone tape theory” to geophysical possibilities.

We’ll also delve into specific haunting cases, including a few from the casebooks of the instructor, Loyd Auerbach and several of his colleagues. We’ll consider how sometimes phenomena can be mixed (hauntings and apparitions together), and even how a haunting can cause a poltergeist situation.

Finally, for those investigating haunting, apparition, and poltergeist cases, we’ll talk about resolving cases of hauntings and how and why haunting resolutions are so different from the others.

IS YOUR CHILD PSYCHIC? An Introduction to Children and Psychic Abilities: Wednesday, January 21st, 6:30-9:30 PM  $50

Children are by nature, more psychic than adults. Unfortunately, our culture and educational system seem to shut down their natural abilities early on.

This special introductory seminar will help you find out how you can determine what psychic talents your child might have, and how to nurture and develop them, as well as help them (and yourself) deal with what they actually experience. Along the way, you’ll also learn much about how you, too, can re-develop your own buried abilities. We’ll look at the range of psychic abilities demonstrated by children (and researched over the years), from ESP to mind over matter (PK) to the ability to see or otherwise sense ghosts and spirits.

We’ll also touch on the relationship between poltergeist cases and adolescents.

For those without their own kids, this class will provide much about the research findings with kids and psychic abilities, findings that will help you with your own psychic development.

For those who are more interested in paranormal investigations where there are children involved who have witnessed hauntings and apparitions, we’ll discuss how to work with kids to alleviate their fear and best conduct the investigation.

FULL CLASSES

Precognition and Psychokinesis: January 15, 22, 29, February 5 & 12, 6:30 to 9:30 PM    $275 including mp3 recordings of the past year’s session, mp3s of current class, additional text, audio and a video workshop – on DVD-Rom.                 MIND, MATTER AND TIME: How Our Psychic Abilities Affect the World Around Us, Pierce the Veil of Time and Help Create the Future. In this six week course, Loyd Auerbach will discuss two fascinating psychic abilities, Psychokinesis (mind over matter) and Precognition. In addition, he’ll delve into theories of Time and Space that connect Psychokinesis (PK) and Precognition.

In relation to PK, he’ll delve into: what parapsychologists and many others know today about PK, how it manifests itself, and how it hints at the broader interconnectedness between our consciousnesses and the Universe around us. There will be an experiential PK segment to this class, working with a method for PK developed by the late (great) science and science fiction writer Martin Caidin,, himself capable of PK.

As for Precognition, Auerbach will cover questions such as: Can anyone really predict the Future? How? Is there really a Future that can be predicted? What is Time? Can we change the Future? Why do so many psychics miss on their predictions? What about the premonitions of the average person?

Ghost Hunting: Investigating the Paranormal: February 19, 26, March 5, 12, 6:30 to 9:30  $250, including DVD-rom with recordings of past years’ course offering in mp3, lots of additional text, audio and video. Student also get mp3s of current class.

RHINE EDUCATION CENTER: ONLINE COURSES: The following full classes are online courses. There is a weekly webinar, which you can attend live or watch the replay. The courses have online forums for the assignments (yes, there are assignments in this class, as it is more “academic”), discussion questions, and the two quizzes. You can take the class for a “grade” or just for fun. For more info, go to www.rhineeducationcenter.org

Investigating Apparitions, Hauntings and Poltergeists. 8 weeks starting Monday January 26. $199 (discount for Rhine Center members is available).

This course is designed as an overview to introduce students to the methodologies of parapsychologists specifically with regard to the spontaneous occurrence of psychic experiences as they occur outside laboratory settings, with a main focus on cases of reported Apparitions, Hauntings and Poltergeists. Attendees will gain an understanding of the very basic skills and needed for investigation of ghosts, poltergeists, haunted places and related psychic experiences.

The class will include:

The conceptual models of the phenomena,

How the scientific and psychic approaches can mesh together, and

How to assess a situation, investigate it, and resolve the case to the satisfaction of the people having the experiences.

The Science of ESP. 8 weeks starting Wednesday, February 18. $199 (discount for Rhine Center members is available)

This 8 week academic course will define the phenomena and experiences related to Extrasensory Perception (ESP) and provide an in-depth study of the current and historical evidence and research of Telepathy, Clairvoyance, and Precognition. The differences and similarities between these categories of psi experience/abilities will be discussed as well as an overview of what has been learned about psychological and physical variables and theories and models of ESP. Some of the basic topics related to Remote Viewing and applications of ESP will also be introduced in this class.

My Visit to Pocatello, Idaho

Last week (October 21-26), I spent several days in Pocatello, Idaho, hosted by John and Lisa Brian of SPIRO Paranormal.

My itinerary included a lecture (True Tales of Ghosts & Hauntings) at Idaho State University, a Professor Paranormal Psychic Entertainment Show at a local school, a book signing and a Ghost Hunting class — as well as spending time on the Haunted History tours SPIRO conducted in Pocatello on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Have to say it was a great time, and I really have to thank John and Lisa, as well as Brett Yost and the rest of the SPIRO team for making the trip truly fun.

The ISU lecture made the trip possible, especially with the extras John and Lisa were able to tag on. I hope I get the opportunity to return to Pocatello — the people were very nice and welcoming, and the town was inviting.

I do have to mention that the SPIRO team quite atypical of many of the ghost hunting groups I’ve met. They not only were truly interested in upping their investigation-game by learning whatever I could provide (or point them to as far as other sources are concerned), but also in going back over their methodology and seeing how they can both expand what they’re doing and include more of what my field has learned about investigations and the phenomena since the late 1800s (yes, we’re that old).

Not to mention they are a close knit “family” of investigators, all with a great sense of humor (and many with similar movie and TV interests to my own!)

I plan to stay in close touch with SPIRO and hope to get back to Pocatello, and to see them out here in the Bay Area as well.

If you are in a ghost hunting/paranormal investigation group/team that wants to up your game, contact me to see how we might work out either a visit to your neck of the woods or something special via distant delivery. If you have a local college or corporation that might want to book me for a lecture or Professor Paranormal show, it will probably be easier than you think!

What Do We Know (or Think We Know) About Ghosts?

What Do We Know (or Think We Know) About Ghosts: A Summary

Loyd Auerbach, MS

Possibilities we consider, and models we work with…

 Do people only “see” ghosts?

No.  They hear, feel and smell as well, often in combinations (seeing and hearing, feeling and hearing, etc.).

A ghostly figure can be:
a real person
a haunting (an “imprint” of people; a “recording” of sorts)
an apparition of the dead
an apparition of the living
a psychic perception
a trick of memory
a trick of perception
a blur brought on by infra-sound
an image caused by phantoms of the brain

 A ghostly sound can be:
a real sound
a haunting (an “imprint” of people; a “recording” of sorts)
an apparition of the dead
an apparition of the living
a psychic perception
a trick of memory
a trick of perception
an auditory hallucination caused by phantoms of the brain

 A ghostly smell can be:
a real smell
a haunting (an “imprint” of people; a “recording” of sorts)
an apparition of the dead
an apparition of the living
a psychic perception
a trick of memory
a trick of perception
an olfactory hallucination caused by phantoms of the brain

A feeling of a presence or being touched by a ghost can be:
a misinterpretation of something going on in the body
a haunting (an “imprint” of people; a “recording” of sorts)
an apparition of the dead
an apparition of the living
a psychic perception
a trick of memory
a trick of perception
a kinesthetic hallucination caused by phantoms of the brain

“Cold spots” and temperature drops, contrary to popular folklore, are not common with the presence of ghosts or in hauntings. The physical measurements of local temperature over the past 130+ years in investigations has yielded very few cases where an apparition or haunting was being experienced and the temperature has dropped. In fact, there have been some where the temperature rose a bit (though that could also be explained by the presence of too many investigators/bodies).

People have experienced “cold chills” when also experiencing/perceiving a ghost or haunting, even though there was no measurable change in temperature in the room/location. That is attributed to either a psychic perception or a psychological perception resulting from otherwise experiencing something out of the ordinary.

Why do some people become ghosts and not others?
Psychological need or desire (or fear of death, of what’s next) or denial (of death/dying)
Emotional drive to “stick around”
Appropriate environmental conditions (still under investigation)
Something related to spiritual/divine design????? (No way to know)

 What about hauntings?  How common?
If everything “records” info through time, there are haunts everywhere.

If environmental conditions need to be right for the signal to be recorded, there may be fewer haunts than we expect.

Environmental conditions ought to affect when and whether a signal is:
recorded “loud” (often meaning with lots of emotion at the time)
replayed “loud”

Psychic perceptions of the individual ought to affect when and how a person perceives haunting info

Environmental conditions and psychic perceptions together likely affect how and when a person experiences place memory/haunting phenomena

What’s a typical ghost look like?
Generally Solid, almost always 3 dimensional, and always clothed (at least in our culture).

Hauntings may only provide part of a “picture” of a past person/event

Both apparitions and hauntings might only be processed/perceived partially by the witnesses. On occasion, this means sometimes people will see out of focus or even shadowy figures.

Apparitions often look better (younger and even sometimes healthier) than the person was at the time of death.  This appears to have to do with “self-image,” or how that consciousness that is the ghost thinks of himself or herself

Sometimes apparitions are seen from the top of the head down to mid calf or even just the knees.

Try this:  Close your eyes and picture yourself for about 10 seconds;

Note:  Don’t read any further until you’ve done that

Now recall what you visualized.

Do you remember the clothing you had on?  Interestingly, very, very few people in Western society would picture themselves in the nude.  Interestingly, ghosts are always “seen” with clothes on.

Do you remember what shoes you were wearing?  Were your feet even part of the visualization?  Probably not.  Again, this is interesting because occasionally ghosts are not “seen” all way down to their feet, which follows along with how we visualize ourselves.

Apparitions and hauntings are not seen with the eyes, heard with the ears, felt with the body or smelled with the nose.  In fact, it appears that the signal from the apparition and haunting is sent directly to some perceptual center of the brain or directly into our Consciousness, and added to the input from our senses.

It’s important to remember that ALL perception resides in the brain’s (or mind’s) information processes.  Data comes in from the senses.  Our minds/brains can add additional info to that data, or take data out or reshuffle it, so that what we perceive is not exactly what is really there.

So, additional information can be added to the mix from the senses and processed as sensory input.  Our eyes don’t see the ghost, but our mind does.  Our ears don’t hear him, but the mind does.  And so on…

Ghosts are typically not seen as orbs of light, as in the photos.  Generally, any visually perceived floating lights are looked at for other, perhaps unusual, explanations (such as ball lightning or earth-lights), mainly because there is no other apparitional experience/perceptions.

Most photos of “ghosts” on the Internet are actually photos of globe shaped orbs of light.  If these orbs are related to ghosts, they are more likely some effect the ghost has on the film or digital media than anything like a reflection (since cameras capture images from reflected light) of a ghostly form. Just like the camera captures images of reflected light bouncing off living people and other physical objects – which is how our eyes see as well.

However, with rare exception the orbs are reflections of the flash off some reflective, semi-reflective or even barely reflective (like a wet leaf or wood) surface or dust particle that does not even have to be in the frame of the image – just needs to be in range of the flash to provide a reflection back to the lens, or dust or insects in the air too close to the lens to see through the viewfinder.

Most of the photos now being identified by many as “ectoplasm” – apparent unusual white mists or even white smoky streaks and shapes – do not fit the original application of the term ectoplasm (spirit matter, usually extruded from the body of a spirit medium, and usually greenish and glowing). Again, they are taken with rarely any other apparitional experience/perceptions.

Most such photos are much more likely flash reflections of water/humidity in the air, or even the flash reflecting off moisture from the breath of the photographer (or other nearby investigator), especially when the external temperature is cool enough for the breath to be condensed (as it seeing your breath in the cold).

If an apparition/discarnate entity were involved, they are more likely some effect the ghost has on the film or digital media than anything like a reflection (since cameras capture images from reflected light) of a ghostly form. Just like the camera captures images of reflected light bouncing off living people and other physical objects.

A Personalized Paranormal Class for You

What are your burning questions?  In this class You will choose the topic of discussion before hand and Prof. Auerbach will tailor this class for you. Each person attending will choose a subject or question that is near and dear to him or her and Prof. Auerbach will answer that question in depth, and as long as the topic/question has been submitted in advance, he’ll provide further resources.

Because of the nature of the class, there is a limit of 8 people so as to give each person’s question their due consideration.

This is the first time ever for such a session with Prof. Auerbach.

Class will be $50 per person and you must contact him by Saturday to register (and get the address). You will be able to pay on-site by cash, check or credit card.

All attendees will get an mp3 recording of the session within 3 days of the class.

To reserve your spot and arrange payment of the deposit, contact Loyd Auerbach at profparanormal@gmail.com or leave a message at the Office of Paranormal Investigations, 415-871-0175.

Because of the nature of this class, and limited space, location address will only be offered to those who register.

If you cannot make this date/location, please do email profparanormal@gmail.com so you can be placed on a special list for first alert of any similar sessions to be conducted.

Individual/Group Mentoring Available — Custom Group Classes, too.

Just thought to post that besides the regular courses I offer through HCH Institute and the Rhine Education Center (part of the Rhine Research Center), I am also available for the following:

Mentoring/Coaching: Investigators: For individuals or even groups, I am available to help you with furthering your understanding of the paranormal and Parapsychology, to bring your field investigations to the next level, and to be clear on how you should best deal with evidence and your clients.

Mentoring/Coaching: Psychics, Mediums and Sensitives: I have been working with several psychics, mediums and fledgling sensitives for some time helping them find their strengths, further develop their control (of their abilities), and consider ethical and business issues when dealing with clients both for readings and for investigations.

Custom Group Classes: I am happy to create specific seminars and classes for groups, whether in the Bay Area or beyond — pretty much anywhere in the country. These can be delivered in a couple of distance formats, or if you have enough people to warrant it, I can come to you.

Free consultation on Education: Feel free to contact me with questions on furthering your education in the paranormal and Parapsychology. While naturally I’d love to work with you, I can also point you to others in my field, as well as to resources and organizations that will help with educating yourself — some free!

Ghost Hunting / Advanced Ghost Hunting Courses

This week, I’m starting up the four week “Ghost Hunting: How to Investigate the Paranormal” course. Offered live in the Bay Area and via telephone for people anywhere in the US and Canada, with supporting text, audio, video and more (mailed to you on a disk or available for download), the course is offered by HCH Institute in Lafayette, California, for four Thursdays starting April 10, from 6:30-9:30 PM Pacific time.

If you’re not local to HCH, you can take the course by phone live or listen to the class recordings. Distance students also get some one on one time with me (Loyd Auerbach) via phone or Skype.

Also offered in distance format only right now is a second level, Advanced Ghost Hunting course.

Here are the descriptions of the two courses. If interested, contact me at profparanormal@gmail.com or call the Office of Paranormal Investigations at 415-871-0175.

GHOST HUNTING: $200.00 ($100 for materials alone, which include past recording of the class in mp3): This class is offered by one of the acknowledged leading experts in the field of Parapsychology, Loyd Auerbach.  The course will provide attendees with the skills and understanding for investigation of ghosts, poltergeists, haunted places and related psychic experiences.  The class will include the models of what these things are (from the field of parapsychology), how the scientific and psychic approaches can mesh together, and how to assess a situation, investigate it, and resolve the case to the satisfaction of the people having the experiences (and hopefully to the satisfaction of the ghosts).

Based on the field of Parapsychology’s 130+ year experience with such investigations, the class will cover: Apparitions, hauntings and poltergeists: differences and similarities;           What else can make a “ghost”; The investigative process, from initial call to resolution; Technology & Psychics in ghost hunting; How the techniques of the professionals differ from those of the amateurs and hobbyists (and TV ghost folks); The ethics of paranormal investigating and legal issues that can be involved.

Also important: the deep (and necessary) connections between apparitions, hauntings and poltergeists and other psychic experiences and abilities, and why a ghost hunter or paranormal investigator needs an understanding of the findings of Parapsychology in order to both conduct a thorough investigation and come to at least a range of reasonable conclusions – and to understand the “why” of the phenomena.

ADVANCED GHOST HUNTING: $250 which includes 2 hours of one on one phone/Skype time with Loyd Auerbach (materials alone, $125, including mp3 of last presentation of the course).  This course is a follow up to the HCH Ghost Hunting course and to the Rhine Education Center Investigations course taught by Loyd Auerbach.
In this course, students will:
1) Delve deeper into the field investigations methodologies and models of the phenomena in Parapsychology.
2) Delve deeper into dealing with clients (living and dead) during investigations, resolutions and follow-up.
3) Delve deeper into the investigation of public-haunts.
4) Delve deeper into sorting through evidence, and look at how/when technology, including EVP, and psychics/mediums fit best into both private home and public site investigations.
Note that there are prerequisites to taking the Advanced class, but no prereqs if you just want to purchase the materials.
Happy to send out the actual course outlines to anyone who contacts me for this. profparanormal@gmail.com
To register for courses, or purchase the full course or just materials, contact HCH Institute at info@hypnotherapytraining.com or 925-283-3941.
The Ghost Hunting course counts towards the Certificate in Parapsychological Studies offered by HCH Institute, www.hypnotherapytraining.com/parapsych.cfm

Parapsychology courses in March

I am offering two parapsychology courses in March (2014) for local (Bay Area) and distance (anywhere!) students. If you are interested, please contact the folks at HCH Institute (email info@hypnotherapytraining.com or call 925-283-3941) or email me at profparanormal@gmail.com.

The two courses and dates/times are as follows (descriptions below):

The Search for Evidence of Life After Death: 3 Tuesdays, March 11, 18 & 25, 6:30-9:30 PM Pacific time.

Perception, Deception, Illusion & Reality: 4 Thursdays, March 6, 13, 20 & 27, 6:30-9:30 PM Pacific time.

Descriptions as follows:

THE SEARCH FOR EVIDENCE OF LIFE AFTER DEATH: Do we survive the death of our bodies? Is there Life after Death? What is the best evidence?

This seminar will cover the search for evidence of Survival of Bodily Death from the earliest psychical researchers to parapsychologists of today. With an eye towards the evidence garnered – and the research and investigations methods to gather it —  the class covers topics such as ghosts, mediumship, near death experiences, electronic voice phenomena, out of body experiences, reincarnation and psychic experience says about whether we/our consciousnesses live on in some fashion after the deaths of our bodies.

ome time will be spent discussing the recent research of Drs. Julie Beischel and Gary Schwartz, working with psychic mediums at the University of Arizona and subsequently at Windbridge Institute, and the work of the Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia in Reincarnation and Apparition research.

The importance of ESP and PK in any model of Survival will be discussed. The class will also look at the debate regarding evidence for Survival vs. the Super-Psi hypothesis from the perspective of the Survival proponents.

Cost $150. Students receive mp3 recordings of all sessions, mp3s of the last course offering lectures, as well as extensive text materials on DVD-rom and additional mp3s. Distance students — who are unable to attend the actual live classes by telephone — are also entitled to one-on-one phone/Skype time with the instructor (Loyd Auerbach).

PERCEPTION, DECEPTION, ILLUSION & REALITY: These days, there’s a lot of “bleeping” focus on the question “What is Reality?”  Whether from the standpoint of Physics or Metaphysics, this question captivates us as human beings – as it should.

But there are two ways to look at that question right off the bat:  “What is Objectively Real?” and “What is Subjectively Real?” which leads to the overriding question about Reality in general. How much of what we see, hear, smell, etc. is Real (and what does that mean) and how much is affected by our perceptual processes? How can we perceive differently from others? How does consciousness process what our senses pick up and how is it affected by that same information?

This special session taught by parapsychologist & psychic entertainer (and former magician) Loyd Auerbach, will delve into the relationship between our Senses, our Perceptions, Consciousness and Physical Reality- as well as information and influences that may come from outside what we consider normal physical reality. Students will learn about the Psychology of Perception and more importantly, the Psychology of Deception, and how shifts in sensory data can lead our perceptions down very different paths – essentially causing us to perceive something that is not really “real”.

We’ll consider theoretical physics concepts such as the uncertainty principle, the possible existence of parallel universes (the Multiverse) and underlying concepts of the universe such as String Theory and Quantum Entanglement, especially as they apply to both Reality and how Consciousness interacts with it, and what researchers are trying to play at (such as the recent success with quantum teleportation). The place of psychic and other non-physical input in the process of Perception will be discussed, especially in relation to Entanglement.

Ultimately, this class is about how we can play with our Perceptions to open us up to a greater Reality.

Finally, Loyd Auerbach will illustrate a number of his points with findings and anecdotes from several fields – including Parapsychology – and entertain with stories and a bit of Magick.

No prerequisites for this seminar! This is not part of Parapsychological Studies Certificate Program, and can be taken on its own whether you have taken any of our other Parapsychology courses or not.

It is highly recommended for ghost hunters and paranormal investigators, whether or not you have taken previous courses from Loyd Auerbach (either at HCH or the Rhine Research Center), or anyone/anyplace else.

Cost: $250. All students receive mp3 recordings (and video!) of each of the class sessions — due to the visual nature of some of Auerbach’s demonstrations, we will be video-recording those demonstrations (and we’re hopefully going to be able to set up Skype video for them as well) for download. Students will also receive text materials and an additional video lecture. All students are eligible for some (free!) one-on-one phone/Skype time with the instructor (though this is especially important for distance students who are unable to attend the live sessions via telephone/Skype).

Mentoring for Paranormal Investigators and Ghost Hunters

Loyd Auerbach will be offering mentoring for individuals and groups/teams of investigators and ghost hunters beginning September 2012.

Rather than formal set courses, this mentoring will take the form of a program (or one time sessions) allowing people who investigate paranormal activity and haunted locations or go on ghost hunts to discuss and gain guidance where needed on their specific cases, as well as their methodologies, equipment and evidence with an active parapsychologist who specializing in field investigations.

A big part of the mentoring will be to support groups/teams/individuals in their efforts to actually help their clients deal with the phenomena and their experiences, something often lacking in the experience and any of the informal training for ghost hunters/paranormal investigators.

More than that, by doing this on an “as needed” basis, rather than a scheduled course, groups/teams/individuals can come to their mentor when they need clarification, more information, help/support in specific cases, and assessment of their gathered evidence and data (and what to do with it).

Auerbach will also provide support for individuals who may be psychically “sensitive” (but with little experience as a working psychic or medium), and for groups/teams working with those who are sensitive to the paranormal.

Finally, as Loyd Auerbach is connected to various field researchers, experimental parapsychologists, and additional scientists in other fields as well as research organizations, he can also provide referrals to others for “second opinions” or for further information in specialized areas. Auerbach himself has over 30 years field experience and who has been teaching Parapsychology for nearly as long (in both graduate school and for non-academic audiences). In addition, he has the additional insight of someone with background and knowledge in the laboratory studies of ESP, PK and Mediumship, as well as studies of Near Death Experiences, Out of Body Experiences, and paranormal beliefs. He has guided and mentored his own students in their investigative and research work long after they finished their courses with him.

Mentoring will be in the form of phone or Skype calls, email, or in-person consults (the latter for those in the San Francisco Bay Area).

If you are a ghost hunter or paranormal investigator who wishes to bring your work to the next level, or just someone starting out who wants some guidance, contact Loyd Auerbach for more information on his upcoming Paranormal Mentoring Program.

Please note that not everyone will be accepted for mentoring. Candidates will need to have a phone/Skype interview with Prof. Auerbach to determine whether the individual or group fits.
